From Finns to fugitives
In Nordic news, Finland are set to become the first nation to make access to broadband internet a legal right of its citizens. The program will launch in July next year and by 2015, everyone in the northern European republic will appreciate a 100 megabits per second connection. It makes the Australian National Broadband Network (NBN) seem like child’s play really.
Although the amount of time Australians spend on social networking sites has doubled, the one-time social-media king, Myspace, has lost more than 50% of its market share. Since April last year, Facebook has lead the charge with “microblog” site Twitter snapping ever more vigorously at its heels. As reported on SMH, Twitter’s market share has grown by an enormous 1516 percent in the last year, and the already behemoth Facebook expanded its share by 101 percent over the same period. Now, that should be a big enough hint for you about where to invest your time!
And finally, to all the fugitives out there, here’s a tip: Don’t update your Facebook status with your current location when a former Justice Department official is in your social network. Yes, Maxi Sopo, a 26-year-old Cameroon-born character, was on the run from authorities for fraudulently obtaining more than $200,000 credit from US banks. After noting Sopo was living it up in Cancun, his Facebook friend helped Mexican police arrest him.
