Happy Windows 7 Day!
Charge your glasses and point your party poppers, Windows 7 is here! With thousands of launch parties (yes, actual parties) currently occurring worldwide, this buzz is building to a crescendo Microsoft has been waiting years to enjoy.
And the word on the street says that this version of Windows has really hit the mark. It may seem like we here at Sharkey Media favour everything Apple over Bill Gates’ selection of products: As web design specialists, it has to be said that we love our iMacs, and, in case you hadn’t guessed, quite a few of us here have iPhones. That considered though, if you’re one of the many many Microsoft lovers across the world, and felt particularly cheated by the bug-filled, clumsy affair that was Windows Vista, you’ll surely welcome Windows 7 with open arms.
With a similar looking desktop to Vista, all you’ll really need to get used to are the cool new features - rather than getting bogged down with learning a new file system or program manager. If you’re currently using Vista, get thee to your closest electronics store and snap up a pack. If you’re currently using Windows XP though, an upgrade is reportedly going to cause you grief and it’s recommended you fork out for a new computer, rather than even attempt it.
If you’re keen, but aren’t so good at adapting to change, it’s probably best to buy Windows 7 straight away. With all the media coverage and tutorial sites dotting the web, handy support will be just a click away.
Built in touch screen capabilities, handy tools to manage your open windows and a rejigged taskbar are just a handful of the fresh features included. Scout around for a launch party near you or scurry to a store for a full demo and more information.
