Digital business innovation and integration
Since yesterday, not only have we gained a new PM, we have also heard word of a new Twitter app for Facebook. The new app not only lets you tweet out to the Facebook universe, it also lets you automatically follow your Facebook friends on Twitter. It's tipped to be a huge innovation for Twitter, as it's likely to bring in a giant amount of activity and growth from existing Facebook connections. Such a momentous move may cause even more fail-whale time than we've seen lately due to international usage growth spurred by the World Cup. Funnily enough, Mashable has posted an update to say they were investigating what looked like a Facebook block of the Facebook Twitter app.
It looks like the best method of business survival is digital innovation and integration. But even though newspapers have been seriously working to get their news information onto digital and interactive forms, a recent article shows it has been cutbacks and staff reductions which have so far kept newspapers afloat. While this is painting a very grim picture, there is hope that newspaper companies, like The New York Times which recently released The Scoop iPhone application, will pave the way for a higher level of integration, and more strategic risk-taking. As we've mentioned before, all businesses need to be able to adapt to ever increasing forms of social web design and digital information sharing.
By the same token, FarmVille is showing no sign of stopping, with the release of their new iPhone app. While it's so far only available to New Zealanders, the rest of the world can expect it very soon. The iPhone is predicted to yield significant growth opportunity for FarmVillle, adding to the already ridiculously enormous popularity which it has enjoyed to date. According to AppData however, the game has seen a vague decline in usage of late. The new iPhone release is sure to be a well timed move.
